- Part of a team of Web and SQL developers who are responsible for the design and implementation of business critical products for a successful online finance company.
- Being a member of a larger NASDAQ listed US organisation, The Dollar Financial Group, has given me exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in addition to UK DPA requirements.
- Gained experience working with and integrating credit and fraud checking services such as Experian Delphi and Detect as well as bank validation services such as Commidea and Band Wizard Absolute.
- Projects included:
- Redevelopment of Retail Platform – After inheriting a legacy system, our team completely re-designed and re-engineered the main retail trading platform. Taking a 'flat' unstructured project and replacing it with a full n-tier solution. A solution which is scalable, maintainable and takes advantage of modern technologies such as WCF and LINQ to SQL
- Implementation of Communications Manager – As part of this project I designed and coded a Communications Service response for handling the messaging requirements of all websites and systems developed by our team. The service is able to cater for any number of service providers (email, SMS etc.) and utilises an nVeloctiy template system to generate dynamic message content. I also created an 'Outlook-style' web interface to allow company staff to review sent messages.

- Member of a seven strong team developing web-based applications and sites for general businesses and developing a web-based insurance trading platform.
- Responsibilities were mainly development and maintenance focussed, but I also had responsibility for testing and systems-level design of some projects.
- Projects included:
- Content Management System – As part of this project I built a conference management and delegate booking system, a taxonomy-based content storage system, auditing system and security authorisation modules
- Insurance Broker Platform – I created a number of subsystems in this implementation, including development of a dynamic questionnaire system and a back office system which provided advanced functionality through AJAX
- Forum Project – I carried this out as my first solo project, and developed a forum system allowing members of a trade organisation to discuss issues and documents.
- Gained rapid promotion to developer after starting as a trainee, I specialised in XML creation and manipulation.
Senior Installation Consultant and Client Specialist

- Senior role in a nationwide team. Installing and supporting electronic banking and payment solutions for corporate customers of major UK banks and Electronic Banking solution providers.
- Responsibilities included the installation and configuration of software and hardware, then tailoring the system to meet the customer’s specific requirements. As a senior team member I was charged with maintaining excellent relationships between our clients and their premier customers.
- Gained familiarity with a wide variety of customers, from small local solicitors to large international corporate clients. Customer sites were in Gibraltar, Jersey and Ireland as well as mainland UK.
- Project involvement:
- HSBCnet Electronic Banking Solution - Providing detailed training to high profile corporate end users of the HSBC flagship online product.
- NatWest Bankline and Bankline HVP - Undertaking installation and support for Premier Corporate customers of the RBS Group who use the High Volume Payments (HVP) system. Installation of this product involves configuring Sybase SQL Server and troubleshooting connectivity issues with ISDN routers and local network communications.
- HSBC HexagonR Electronic Banking Solution - Involvement with this product required installation and configuration of Microsoft SQL Server as well as providing training to end users.
- BACSTEL-IP - Installation and configuration of various BACSTEL-IP systems, enabling organisations to undertake bulk payment operations and the collection of monies via the Direct Debit mechanism.
- eSource Network Operations Centre – Providing holiday cover on the technical helpdesk. Including providing support for users of a wireless internet service in marinas. Also supporting users of the telephone and data services within halls of residences at UK Universities.

October 2007
After being given a design brief, I developed and produced a CDROM based website concept demonstration in Flash, using SwishMax 2. The site featured embedded video to highlight a potential direction for the banks business.
